Our Mission

Why We Built OnlyMantra

For centuries, Vedic astrology was accessible only through personal consultations with trained Jyotishis — a privilege limited by geography, language, and cost. Most Indians grew up hearing fragments of this knowledge from grandparents but never had access to a systematic, reliable digital source.

We built OnlyMantra to change that. Our platform brings authentic Vedic calculations — Rashifal, Panchang, Nakshatra insights, and Numerology — directly to your device, completely free. No expensive consultations. No vague generic horoscopes. Just precise, honest, and culturally grounded Vedic guidance.

We believe that understanding the cosmic cycles that influence your life is not superstition — it is self-awareness. And self-awareness is the foundation of every meaningful decision.

What We Offer

The OnlyMantra Platform

Every feature is designed to deliver authentic Vedic insights with the precision and clarity that modern users expect.

Ancient Parashara System

Our horoscope engine is rooted in the Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra — the foundational scripture of Vedic astrology written over 1,500 years ago. Every planetary calculation strictly follows the sidereal zodiac (Nirayana system), not the Western tropical system, giving you true Vedic precision.

AI-Powered Narrative Engine

Raw planetary data is meaningless without context. Our proprietary AI interprets planetary positions, nakshatra transits, and yogas into clear, actionable language — avoiding the vague, generic predictions that plague most astrology websites. Every prediction is uniquely generated for today's planetary positions.

Privacy-First Architecture

Your birth details, queries, and usage data are never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising profiling. We collect only what's necessary to provide your reading. OnlyMantra is built on a strict "privacy by design" principle.

Bilingual Indian Experience

We are built for India. Our platform supports both English and Hindi, with plans to add Tamil, Telugu, and Bengali. Rashifal names, Panchang elements, and Nakshatra descriptions are available in Devanagari script for users who prefer to read in their mother tongue.

Real-Time Panchang

Our Panchang engine calculates Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karan, Muhurta, Rahukaal, and Gulika Kaal in real time for any date. It is calibrated for Indian Standard Time (IST) and accounts for sunrise/sunset variations across the Indian subcontinent.

Chaldean & Vedic Numerology

Our Name Numerology module uses both the Chaldean system (which assigns values based on phonetic vibrations) and the Pythagorean system to compute your Life Path Number, Destiny Number, and Soul Urge Number — providing a holistic view of your cosmic blueprint.

Understanding Vedic Astrology

The Origins of Jyotish

Vedic astrology, known in Sanskrit as Jyotish (meaning "science of light"), is one of the six auxiliary disciplines of the Vedas — the ancient scriptures of India. Unlike Western astrology, which emerged primarily from Hellenistic Greece, Jyotish developed independently on the Indian subcontinent and was first codified by the sage Parashara in the foundational text Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra.

The 12 Rashis (Zodiac Signs)

The Vedic zodiac is divided into 12 Rashis (signs), each spanning 30° of the sidereal ecliptic. Unlike the Western zodiac, the Vedic system is anchored to the actual visible stars (sidereal), not the seasons (tropical). The 12 Rashis are: Mesh (Aries), Vrishabh (Taurus), Mithun (Gemini), Kark (Cancer), Simha (Leo), Kanya (Virgo), Tula (Libra), Vrishchik (Scorpio), Dhanu (Sagittarius), Makar (Capricorn), Kumbha (Aquarius), and Meen (Pisces). Each sign is ruled by a planet and associated with a specific element (fire, earth, air, water) and quality (cardinal, fixed, mutable).

The 27 Nakshatras (Lunar Mansions)

A unique feature of Vedic astrology is its use of 27 Nakshatras — lunar mansions that divide the ecliptic into 27 equal segments of 13°20' each. The Moon transits through one Nakshatra approximately every day. Nakshatras provide extraordinary precision to Vedic predictions, as each has a specific ruling deity, ruling planet, symbol, and set of qualities that influence anyone born under it. Many important life decisions in India — including marriages and business ventures — are still evaluated against Nakshatra compatibility today.

Planetary Periods (Dashas)

Vedic astrology uses a sophisticated system of planetary periods called Dashas to predict life events. The most commonly used is the Vimshottari Dasha system, which spans 120 years and assigns a specific period to each of the nine planets (Navagrahas): Sun (6 years), Moon (10 years), Mars (7 years), Rahu (18 years), Jupiter (16 years), Saturn (19 years), Mercury (17 years), Ketu (7 years), and Venus (20 years). The sequence and timing of these periods in your life is determined by the Nakshatra position of your Moon at birth.
