1. Introduction to the Srimad Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita ("Song of the Divine") consists of 700 verses situated in the Bhishma Parva of the Mahabharata. It represents the dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and the warrior Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, synthesizing the paths of Karma Yoga (Action), Bhakti Yoga (Devotion), and Jnana Yoga (Knowledge).
2. Structural Architecture (18 Chapters)
The 18 chapters of the Gita are traditionally divided into three sections of six chapters each:
- Chapters 1–6 (Karma Yoga): Duty, selfless action, discipline of the mind, and the nature of the individual soul (Jiva).
- Chapters 7–12 (Bhakti Yoga): Divine manifestations, cosmic universal form (Vishwarupa), and loving devotion to God (Ishvara).
- Chapters 13–18 (Jnana Yoga): Matter and consciousness, the three Gunas, transcendence, and final liberation (Moksha).
