Why Chant the Gayatri Mantra?
The Gayatri Mantra is one of the most revered Vedic mantras, dedicated to Savitri (the divine light of wisdom). I began chanting it during my morning routine, and over time, I noticed greater mental clarity and calmness — not because it’s “magic,” but because it turns the mind inward.
Sanskrit Text
ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः

Roman Transliteration
Om bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ
tat savitur vareṇyaṃ
bhargo devasya dhīmahi
dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt
Simple Meaning
We meditate on the divine light of the Sun (Savitri), the source of all worlds. May that radiant energy inspire our intellect and guide our thoughts toward truth.
When & How to Chant
- Best time: Brahma Muhurta (1.5 hours before sunrise)
- Repetitions: 108 times with a mala (or 11/27 if short on time)
- Posture: Sit facing east, spine straight, eyes closed
My Personal Tip
Don’t worry about perfect pronunciation at first. Focus on the feeling of light and gratitude. Even 3 sincere repetitions are more powerful than 108 rushed ones.
