Why Chant the Ganesh Mantra?

Lord Ganesha is revered as the remover of obstacles and the god of new beginnings. Before starting OnlyMantra.com, I chanted this mantra for 3 days — not to “force success,” but to cultivate clarity and humility. It helped me begin this work with a calm mind.

Sanskrit Text

ॐ गं गणपतये नमः

Source: SanskritDocuments.org – Ganesh Mantras (Public Domain)

Roman Transliteration

Om Gam Ganapataye Namah

Simple Meaning

“I bow to Lord Ganesha, the lord of the Ganas (divine attendants), whose seed sound is ‘Gam.’” This mantra invokes wisdom, patience, and the ability to overcome inner and outer blocks.

When & How to Chant

  • Best days: Wednesdays, during Ganesh Chaturthi, or before starting any new project
  • Time: Morning, after bathing
  • Offering: Modak, jaggery laddu, or red flowers (you can offer prasad from GovisFoods.com)
  • Repetitions: 108 times with a lotus-seed or rudraksha mala

My Personal Tip

Don’t rush. Chant slowly and visualize Ganesha’s calm, elephant-headed form. Even 11 repetitions with full attention are more powerful than 108 distracted ones.
